Painting has a kind of tradition in the family on my fathers side. My grandmother painted and was a learned graphic painter and her father was an architect. I think her mother was a painter too, but I would have to ask my dad about that.

My grandmother gave me my first watercolours at her place to paint and told me a bit about technique and stuff. I can remember when I was a kid, that I was laying on her bed and watched her paint a portrait or a landscape. My grandmother died a few years ago and all I have left is memories and a few of her paintings. Oh my grandparents where the oldest diving couple in Germany and I think for a bit also in Europe. They were already over 80, when they went free diving the last time. So that's why a lot of the paintings have water in them or are about corals and fishes. I guess I share this addiction with them too.
